Navy Emblem

John R. “Jud” Dennis, 80, of Randville, died Wed. March 23, 2011 due to an accidental injury in his garage. He was born on March 14, 1931 in Kingsford, the son of the late John E. and Mae (Fish) Dennis.

John graduated from Kingsford High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. On Dec. 29, 1951, he married Edna “Putsen” Freeman whom he absolutely loved and cherished.

Jud held various roles with Kimberly-Clark starting in Niagara, WI, became a millwright with Kimtech in Neenah, WI and then transferred to Fullerton, CA where he retired as a maintenance supervisor. He was a very dedicated employee. After his retirement in 1986, Jud and Putsen moved back to this area, settling in Randville.

John lived his dream of having his very own junkyard out back. Devoted to his family, he never hesitated to tell them how proud he was of them. His passions were helping people fix their vehicles and being nice to everyone. Jud cherished his many friendships. He had a strong faith, enjoying his daily visits with the Lord and being an active member of American Martyrs Catholic Church, where he served as an usher. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus-Bishop Baraga Council, the American Legion of Neenah, WI, and the 40 et 8 of Jefferson, WI.

He is survived by his wife Edna “Putsen”, eight children: Sheryl (Lee) Twist of Janesville, WI, Diane (Don) Hildebrandt of Menasha, WI, Mark (Sharen) Dennis of Kaukauna, WI, Donna Dennis (Addie DiManno), Stanton, CA, Mary Dennis of Menasha, WI, Joanne Dennis (Janie Champeau) of Menasha, WI, Kathy (David) Jakopovich of Green Bay, WI and Lisa (Jim) Johnson of Iron Mountain, MI; twenty grandchildren: Beth (Mike) Figi, Laura (Darren) Lynd, Robert (Krista) Twist, Brett & Jason Hildebrandt, Samantha, John (Jess) & Stephanie Dennis, Matt & Scott Preimesberger, Holly, Justin, Emily Slomski & Alexandra Olk, Angelica (Jorge) Suarez, Adrianne Buenrostro, Alissa & Madeline Jakopovich, Nathan & Amanda Johnson; nine great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Donna (Don) Legault of Iron Mountain, Josephine Freeman of Kingsford, and Karen Hixon of Aurora, many other relatives and special friends.

Jud was preceded in death by an infant son John Carl Dennis, two brothers-in-law Robert and Carl Freeman, and two sisters-in-law Lois (Steve) Podgornik and Inez (Tom) Grierson.

Visitation will be Sunday from 3-6 pm at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 am at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Father Joseph Gouin will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Cemetery Park. Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post #50.

Condolences to the family of John “Jud” Dennis may be expressed online at

The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home with the funeral arrangements.
